Trump is having lunch with Kanye West on Thursday
President Trump may like Taylor Swift's music 25 percent less now that she has come out in support of Democrats, but his love for Kanye West only seems to be growing stronger.
Trump is scheduled to have lunch with West on Thursday, The New York Times reports. The White House says they'll talk about "manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago," per NBC News. The Chicago rapper will also meet with senior adviser and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner.
This will not be West's first time meeting with Trump, having done so in December 2016 during the transition. West said they discussed violence in Chicago, and after the Trump Tower meeting, the two stood side by side as Trump declared that they have been "friends for a long time," per CNN. Trump has also met with Kim Kardashian West several times to discuss prison reform, and in June, he commuted the sentence of a woman sent to prison for a first-time drug offense whose case Kardashian West had presented, per Reuters.
West's support for Trump hasn't faltered since their 2016 meeting, and this lunch comes not long after he wore a Make America Great Again hat on Saturday Night Live and spoke in support of Trump after his performance, although this did not make it to air. Trump subsequently tweeted in support of West, saying he's "leading the charge!"
