Democrats score first flip of 2018 midterms — in Guam

The first Democratic flip of the 2018 midterms has already happened — while all the polls are still open in the mainland United States. Across the ocean in Guam, Lou Leon Guerrero was elected the U.S. island territory's first female governor, and seized a seat that has been in Republican possession for the past eight years, KUAM News and the Daily Kos' James Lambert report.

The race was called when Leon Guerrero achieved the majority of the vote with 50.7 percent. The territory also elected a female-majority legislature, indicative of the historic number of women running for office in 2018.
