Republican Kevin Cramer beats Democrat Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota Senate race

Republican Kevin Cramer has won the North Dakota Senate race, defeating incumbent Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D), NBC News and Fox News project.
Heitkamp was elected in 2012 by an extremely thin margin, earning about 3,000 more votes than her opponent. North Dakota is a red state that President Trump won in 2016 by 36 points. After Heitkamp voted last month against confirming Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, she received millions in donations from across the country, in addition to backlash from voters.
Ahead of the election, polls showed Cramer, the state's only congressman, leading Heitkamp by nine percentage points.
