Republicans are now projected to retain control of the Senate

Republicans will retain control of the Senate, Fox News, NBC, CBS, and CNN are all projecting.
This comes after both Fox and NBC previously projected that Democrats will gain control of the House of Representatives. If both of these projections are correct, this will mean the midterm elections will have played out basically as they were expected to, although it's not yet clear how big of a majority either the Republicans or the Democrats will end up with.
As these projections were made, Republicans were picking up some key victories in the Senate, with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) fending off Democratic challenger Rep. Beto O'Rourke (R-Texas) and with Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer (N.D.) defeating incumbent Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.).
