when harry met scotland
Prince Harry is going prince-less.
With his official step back from the royal family weeks away, the Duke of Sussex spoke Wednesday about sustainable travel at a Scotland event, receiving an informal introduction he evidently insisted upon.
"He's made it clear that we are all just to call him Harry," said Ayesha Hazarika, who was hosting the conference, The Associated Press reports. "So ladies and gentlemen, please give a big, warm Scottish welcome to Harry."
It may seem like a small thing, but AP notes this "request reflected the seismic shift underway in the British monarchy." This comes almost two months after Harry and Meghan Markle announced their shocking decision to "step back as 'senior' members" of the royal family. Last week, March 31 was set as the day they'll officially do so, although Harry and Meghan will both appear at a number of events between now and then, The Washington Post notes.
After that point, all of us who will obviously come into regular contact with the erstwhile full-time royal, thankfully, now know exactly what to call him.
