Attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch on Thursday moved one step closer to confirmation after the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 12 to 8 to send her nomination on to the full Senate. All nine Democrats on the committee voted for Lynch, as did Republican Sens. Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Orrin Hatch (Utah.) If confirmed, Lynch would become the first female African American attorney general in history.
