A judge declared a mistrial Wednesday in the hearing of Baltimore police Officer William Porter for his involvement in the death of Freddie Gray after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict on any of the charges. The announcement of a hung jury comes just a day after jurors informed the judge they were deadlocked in their decision.
Porter is the first of six officers to be tried in the death of Gray, a black man who suffered a fatal spinal injury in a police van. He faces four charges, including manslaughter.
Prosecutors now must decide whether to re-try the case.
