Orlando Police Chief Val Demings has given the Democrats their first victory Tuesday in the House of Representatives, winning election to the congressional seat for Florida's 10th district. Both The Associated Press and Fox News have called the race for Demings, who ran unsuccessfully for election to the House in 2012. Florida's 10th congressional district was redrawn for the 2016 election, giving Democrats an edge; Demings defeated Republican Thuy Lowe for the seat.
