Prince Louis: a year in pictures
Kensington Palace publishes new official portraits of young royal to mark his first birthday
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released three new official portraits of their youngest child to mark his first birthday.
The images of Prince Louis “show him happily playing in the woods, having rolled around so much he is covered in moss and leaves”, says The Daily Telegraph.
The photographs were reportedly taken in the garden of the family’s Norfolk home earlier this month, and highlight the importance that the Duchess puts on the importance of outdoor play, something she has “recently spoken extensively about”, The newspaper adds.

“Spending quality time together is such an important aspect of family life and for me, as a mother, it is the simple family moments like playing outside together that I cherish,” she said.
In March, Kate revealed during a visit to a children’s centre that Louis is an active child who enjoys “bombing around” on a walker, the London Evening Standard reports.
“He just wants to pull himself up all the time. He’s got these little walkers and is bombing around on them,” she told a fellow parent.
Elle Magazine says that Louis’ aunt and uncle, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, “left a sweet comment” on the KensingtonRoyal Instagram account. “Happy Birthday Louis! Sending lots of love from both of us xo,” said the message from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The magazine suggests that “given the casual emoji use and ‘xo’, there is “good reason to believe Meghan may have written the comment herself”.
Louis is fifth in line to the throne after his grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William and older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
