Following in the tradition of female psycho comedies, Catfight stars Anne Heche and Sandra Oh as two former college friends who get caught up in a bitter rivalry that gets nastier and more violent as time goes on. It's farcical and tragic, but the movie also has some deeper if satirical points to make about female relationships in contemporary society. From 1 June.

War on Everyone

This comic crime caper movie stars Michael Pena and Alexander Skarsgard as Bob and Terry, two corrupt Albuquerque cops who specialise in blackmailing hapless criminals. But when they set their sights on a new target, they discover that not all criminals are so easy to scam. Available 1 June.

Flaked Season 2

While the first season may have failed to attract a great fanfare, this tale of a middle-aged recovering alcoholic self-help guru struggling to get his own life in order has gathered a following who enjoy its awkward charm. Season two sees man-child lead Chip (Will Arnett) attempt to redeem himself after trying to sell out his local community. From 2 June.

Hello My Name is Doris

This indie-rom-com drew a lot of buzz when it first appeared at SXSW Festival, and though it failed to garner awards, it scored plenty of praise for the winning performances of its leads. Sally Field is remarkable as a sixty-something who becomes infatuated with her much younger co-worker (Max Greenfield). From 6 June.

Orange is the New Black Season 5

Following an intense fourth season, the fifth instalment of Netflix's breakout female prison drama takes place in real-time over the course of three days. It picks up where season four left off – with Daya pointing a gun at CO Humphrey's head as her fellow inmates tell her to shoot – and goes on to focus on the aftermath of popular inmate Poussey's death. From 9 June.

Shimmer Lake

This intriguing crime thriller with a Memento-like narrative twist tells the story of a local sheriff trying to solve the mystery of a small-town bank job gone wrong, backwards, with events unfolding in reverse over the course of a week.

The show stars Benjamin Walker who has made a name for himself playing serial killer Patrick Bateman in the Broadway musical version of American Psycho. From 9 June.

Anthropoid

Peaky Blinders' Cillian Murphy and Fifty Shades' Jamie Dornan lead this true but little-known story from WWII. The pair play Czechoslovakian agents parachuted into their occupied homeland to assassinate a high-ranking Nazi general. Peter Bradshaw in The Guardian calls it "intelligent, tough, and gripping". From 20 June.

Glow

This new 10-part comedy-drama revisits a 1980s professional women's wrestling circuit in the US (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling – GLOW). Alison Brie (Mad Men) stars as Ruth Wilder, an aspiring actress hoping to find her way to Hollywood via the arena of spangled bodysuits and body slams. From 23 June.

Okja

Bong Joon-ho's Netflix-produced film caused controversy at Cannes for failing to offer a cinema release, but attracted praise for its fresh and surprising story and international cast. A little girl in South Korea fights to save a marvellous beast from the sinister plans of a global corporation headed by Tilda Swinton. From 28 June.

Gypsy
