The Crystal Maze was shown on Channel 4 between 1990 and 1995. The first four series were presented by Richard O'Brien and the final two by Ed Tudor-Pole. At its peak, it was the network's most watched show, regularly drawing between four and six million viewers.
The action was based in a maze featuring four different "zones" set in various periods of time and space. Contestants took part in a series of challenges in order to win time crystals, each of which gave them five seconds of time inside the Crystal Dome, where the final challenge took place.
An "immersive live experience" Crystal Maze was launched in London earlier this year, billing itself as the "ultimate team challenge", with participants testing their "skills, mental and physical ability across four adventure time zones: Aztec, Industrial, Futuristic and Medieval".
It was described by Digital Spy as "a bloody brilliant nostalgia-fest and definitely the most fun you can have on a night out in the city for fifty quid".
