Celebrities, activists and women from all walks of life have been flooding Twitter with personal testaments to the pervasiveness of sexual harassment and assault.
The outpouring was sparked by a tweet from Charmed star Alyssa Milano, one of disgraced Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein’s most vocal accusers, in which she encouraged her followers to tweet “me too” if they had similar experiences to her own. Within hours, the hashtag was trending around the world.
Famous faces who answered the call include movie stars Anna Paquin and Selma Blair, and Westworld actor Evan Rachel Wood:

Women weren’t the only ones adding their voices to the chorus - one of the respondents to Milano’s tweet was Javier Munoz, currently playing the title role in Broadway behemoth Hamilton:
The hashtag has drawn comparisons to the similar #YesAllWomen campaign of 2014, in which women shared stories of sexism as a counterpoint to what they saw as the unhelpful narrative being pushed by some male commentators that “not all men” were sexist.
