Charity of the week: Pheasants Forever
Pheasants Forever is dedicated to conserving North America’s population of pheasants and quail.
Pheasants Forever (pheasantsforever.org)is a grassroots organization of more than 130,000 hunters, farmers, landowners, and wildlife
officials dedicated to conserving North America’s population of pheasants and quail. Founded in 1982 in response to a sharp decline of ring-necked pheasant populations, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have restored and maintained more than 5.3 million acres of wetland and prairie habitat across the U.S. and parts of Canada, through a unique organizational structure that empowers local chapters to promote and execute conservation projects in their own communities. Along with that fieldwork, PF works with elected officials and natural resource agencies to shape conservation policies. The organization’s youth program, No Child Left Indoors, teaches about 50,000 kids each year the importance of nature and conservation.
Each charity we feature has earned a four-star overall rating from Charity Navigator, which rates not-for-profit organizations on the strength of their finances, their control of administrative and fundraising expenses, and the transparency of their operations. Four stars is the group’s highest rating.
