Beyoncé, Susan Boyle, Kim Kardashian
Beyoncé sparked an outraged parental backlash when the singer opened the Grammy Awards with a salacious dance routine that featured her straddling a chair and bending over while wearing nothing but a black thong bodysuit and fishnet tights. In the bootylicious performance—which aired at 8 p.m. on both coasts, and 7 p.m. Central TimeBeyoncé writhed and twerked while belting out the lyrics of her explicit song “Drunk in Love.” She was then joined onstage by her husband, rapper Jay Z, who kissed her and groped her behind as she ground up against him. Furious parents immediately flocked to social media to post their disgust, and criticized network CBS for allowing the routine at an hour when millions of children were watching. “Beyonce seriously?” tweeted one mother. “That performance was NOT appropriate for children. Thank God mine are in bed. #shameonyou.”
Wealthy singer Susan Boyle has stunned locals in her Scottish hometown by applying for a minimum-wage job at the town’s betting parlor. The socially awkward Boyle became an international sensation while performing on Britain’s Got Talent and is now worth $33 million, but recently admitted she struggles with Asperger’s syndrome. She sees the $10.65-an-hour cashier job at the Ladbrokes bookies as a good excuse to mingle with people, says The Sun (U.K.). “I think she saw it as a way of getting out of the house and taking her mind off things,” said one customer. “I have seen her around the town, and she can appear a bit lonely. She likes to be with people who know her and will look out for her.”
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are looking for a new venue for their fairy-tale wedding after French officials denied their request to host the event at the Palace of Versailles, said RadarOnline.com. The pair had dreamed of holding their own royal nuptials at the ornate 17th-century palace, but were told by officials that the multimillion-dollar occasion—which is set to be televised and paid for by the E! -channel—would be too “intrusive.” They are now scouring nearby private estates and châteaus in the Paris region for the June extravaganza.
