But “bulk wine” is no longer the region’s only specialty. Younger winemakers are turning small Roussillon into a prime source of great value wines.
2011 Domaine Laguerre Côtes du Roussillon Le Ciste Blanc ($17). A move to lower yields has helped Domaine Laguerre produce “expressive, elegant” wines like this blend.
2012 Domaine Vaquer Côtes du Roussillon Esquisse ($18). This “fresh and lively” red “boasts a silky texture” and “fine minerality.”
