Walmart holds food drive for employees
An Ohio Walmart store is holding a Thanksgiving food drive for its own employees. The drive is part of “the company’s culture to rally around associates,” said a Walmart spokeswoman. But critics said the request for food was a tacit admission by Walmart that it doesn’t pay its workers enough to get by. “To ask low-wage workers to donate food to other low-wage workers—to me, it is a moral outrage,” said activist Norma Mills.

The Young Conservatives of Texas canceled its “Catch an Illegal Immigrant’’ event at the University of Texas, Austin, after complaints from students and administrators. The group said the game, in which students would chase down students wearing “illegal immigrant” signs, was meant to “spark a campus-wide discussion about the issue.”
