President Obama is reportedly preparing to nominate James B. Comey, a high-ranking Justice Department official during the George W. Bush administration, to replace FBI Director Robert Mueller III, whose already extended 10-year term expires in September. Comey is a former hedge fund executive, the former top lawyer for defense contractor Lockheed Martin, and a Republican. Why would Obama pick him for such a high-profile job?
