This simple smartphone-controlled device can “make you feel a bit like George Jetson.” Plug the WeMo Switch into a standard electric outlet, download a WeMo app, and you can use your phone, wherever you are, to turn the current on or off or put it on a schedule. The WeMo offers a relatively cheap way to light a room when you’re away or to start a tea kettle when you’re nearing home, though the cost grows quickly if you want WeMos throughout the house, or don’t already have home Wi-Fi.
