Last season, the revival of Dallas struck oil. This season, the show and fans were dealt a blow when actor Larry Hagman, aka conniving oilman J.R. Ewing, lost his battle with cancer. But Hagman worked until the end, and this week’s season premiere kicks off six episodes in which viewers will get their last chance to see him play the iconic character. 30 Rock Series Finale
After seven seasons, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, and company close the door on the Emmy-winning comedy series, inspired by Fey’s experiences working as the head writer at Saturday Night Live. Details about the hourlong final episode are shrouded in secrecy, but clues have emerged: The show will feature cameos by Julianne Moore and Salma Hayek, who’ll both be reprising earlier roles. Space Shuttle Columbia: Mission of Hope
Ten years after the explosion of the space shuttle Columbia killed all seven passengers, this Tom Hanks–produced documentary focuses on the personal mission of one Columbia astronaut. Ilan Ramon, a son of Holocaust survivors and Israel’s first man in space, considered it his duty to honor Jewish history during the flight. He carried with him a small Torah scroll that a mission colleague had once carried secretly while enduring the horrors of Bergen-Belsen. Thursday, Jan. 31, at 9 p.m., PBS; check local listings

Mary J. Blige and Angela Bassett play Betty Shabazz and Coretta Scott King, widows of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., in a fictionalized interpretation of the friendship that the two women struck up as they took up their own civil rights battles in the years after their husbands were assassinated.
