Fans and professionals alike have been creating video homages using bits of footage from the film to create mini works of art all their own. The mash-ups pair the trailer with everything from Disney classics to other films from Nolan's growing catalog, and they all impress in their own unique ways. 1. The Dark Knight Rises & The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
What do you get when you mix The Dark Knight Rises trailer with the "hyper-kinetic, quick-cut style" of David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo teaser? asks Kofi Outlaw at Screenrant: This "hard and heavy" cut rocking out to a remixed version of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" that features the caped crusader battling a revolving cast of villainous baddies.

2. Pee-Wee Herman dubs The Dark Knight Rises
For a skit on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Paul Reubens, better known as Pee-Wee Herman, used his unique vocal stylings to re-record the dialogue of the characters featured in the trailer. "Anyone else think Pee-Wee should do the voiceover for all movie trailers?" asks Robyn Ross at TV Guide.
3. The Dark Knight Rises & My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
This is "the mashup we deserve, not the one we need," says Hillary Busis at Entertainment Weekly. On paper it shouldn't work, but the "diametric" juxtaposition of sparkly protagnist Rainbow Dash from The Hub's hit cartoon series, with Nolan's visceral narrative, makes the two seemingly polar opposites "go pretty well together."
4. The Dark Knight Rises & The Lion King
This "snarlingly good trailer" enlists Simba as Batman, villainous Scar, of course, as Bane, Nala as a purring Catwoman, and the feathered Zazu as Alfred, the voice of reason, says Blastr. "Two great tastes that taste great together. Who knew?"
5. The Dark Knight Rises & The Prestige
This cut uses one popular Nolan flick to provide commentary on another, says Lauren Davis at io9. But unlike the mash-up involving sparkly ponies, there's another "layer of depth" here," especially with Nolan-favorite Michael Caine's narration from The Prestige. It's also a "neat way of tying together the three Batman movies."
6. The Dark Knight Rises & Batman: The Animated Series
For many people who grew up with it, Bruce Timm's Batman: The Animated Series "still stands as a high point for the Caped Crusader," says Oliver Sava at AV Club. This combination not only provides the best of both worlds, but it fulfills every nerd's dream "to watch jocks get devoured in a football field sinkhole," just in animated form.
7. The Dark Knight Rises & Community
Community and The Dark Knight Rises? Why not! says Tim Surette at TV.com. Here you get one of Community character Abed's favorite things — he's a film buff — mixed with clips from the on-again-off-again NBC series that diehard fans love. "Well, internet. You've gone and done it again."
