Why Paul Ryan isn't running for president: 5 theories

The House GOP's budget guru won't seek the White House in 2012, despite the Republican establishment all but begging him to join the fray

First Mitch Daniels and now this. On Monday, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) dashed "the conservative intelligentsia's last best hope to get one of their own in the race" for president. The chairman of the House budget committee announced (again) that he would not seek the GOP presidential nomination. Why is the budget wonk ignoring the pleas of The Weekly Standard, Jeb Bush, and other members of the Republican elite who desperately want him to run? Here, five theories:
