Gossip: George Michael, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Stevie Wonder

Michael barely escaped the fees EMI was planning to charge for his recording of Stevie Wonder's song, You and I. The recording is planned as a wedding present to Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Singer George Michael saved a bundle this week on his wedding present to Prince William and Kate Middleton, said the London Guardian. The singer, 47, recorded a version of the 1972 Stevie Wonder song You and I as a present for the soon-to-be-wed royal couple, only to discover that EMI, the record company that owns the song’s rights, planned to hit him with a massive bill. Michael caught a break when Wonder himself convinced EMI to waive licensing fees. “Those f---ers at EMI wanted to charge me for every download,” Michael wrote on Twitter. “I’d like Kate and Will to know I was prepared to do that.”
