Sal the cat receives a summons for jury duty
A Massachusetts cat has been summoned for jury duty, after it was listed by its owner on the census form. Anna Esposito says that after her cat, Sal, received his summons, she contacted the jury commission to request disqualification on the grounds that Sal’s language skills are limited. In response, the commission told Esposito that Sal “must attend” jury selection, and that “jurors are not expected to speak perfect English.”

Tiger Woods hasn’t given up on ex-wife Elin Nordegren, and recently searched for her diaries to see if she’s dating another man, says The National Enquirer. A source says that when Nordegren was away for a few days, Woods told her house staff in Florida that “their kids had left some things that he had to pick up” and spent some time—in Nordegren’s words—“searching through my drawers and cupboards and trying to find my diaries.” Woods, says the source, “is obsessed with keeping tabs on Elin” and doesn’t want her to see other men.
Police raid Russian traveling circus
A Russian traveling circus was raided by police after jugglers kept flubbing their stunts and the “exotic” animals turned out to be household pets. Thousands of people showed up at an arena in Belarus after the circus advertised death-defying acts as well as bears, crocodiles, and monkeys. Instead, said Igor Kalmuk, director of the sports hall that hosted the circus, “they had a few poodles and one crocodile, and the artists kept falling off their bicycles.” The circus’ director said the exotic animals had “got stuck at customs.”
