Best websites for finding the jobs of the future

These resources will help you track down jobs in clean energy, health care, and start-up companies.

Ama-assn.org lists 80 careers in health care and provides a directory to 8,600 accredited institutions in those fields. Nurses, technicians, and doctors are currently in high demand: A recent study of shorthanded professions put all three in the top 10. To become a home health aide “requires only short-term training,” and that field “will grow 50 percent by 2018.”

Nrdc.org/energy/greenjobs provides a primer on clean-energy industries and the biggest players in the field. “Between January and March 2010, 83,000 clean-energy jobs—from farmers to administrative assistants—were created.”

Jobnob.com showcases opportunities with startup companies. In 2009, 69 percent more job seekers opted to start their own firms than in 2008. Many of those fledgling firms “will likely be looking for staff.”
