Show of the week: Frontline: Death by Fire
Frontline re-examines the evidence in an old arson case—that of Cameron Todd Willingham, who was sentenced to death and executed for killing his daughters in a fire—and investigates whether the fire might have been accidental.
In 1991, a fire consumed the Corsicana, Texas, home of Cameron Todd Willingham, killing his three young daughters. Willingham himself escaped with minor burns, but was convicted of murder by arson and failed to win reprieve from execution despite troubling questions about the fire’s investigation. Re-examining the evidence with up-to-date methods and drawing detailed portraits of other principals in the case, Frontline investigates whether the fire might have been accidental. Their findings could have implications for others convicted of arson. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 9 p.m., PBS; check local listings
