Thief steals money from girls' lemonade stand
After a man ran off with $40 in hard-earned money from a lemonade stand run by four little girls in Pontiac, Mich., the girls were crushed. But the story was picked up by the media, and donations began pouring in. So far, the girls, ages 6 to 9, have received tickets to an amusement park, a new bike, and a discount on lemonade supplies. “I hope the girls learn a good lesson,” said Danielle Behan, one of the moms, “and that’s to turn the negative into a good thing.” The girls plan to reopen the stand soon and to donate some of their proceeds to a local charity.

A mother duck that made her nest 15 feet above a street in Spokane has had her ducklings ushered safely back to the water by an office worker dubbed “Duck Man.” For the third year in a row, bank officer Joel Armstrong has watched the nest outside his office window, waiting until the ducklings seemed about to move. He then rushed down to the pavement to catch them as they fell from their ledge, before guiding them through traffic to the river. In total, he has caught 26 ducklings, and hasn’t dropped one yet.
Akron mailman has saved three lives
Keith McVey, a 53-year-old mailman in Akron, recently saved the life of an unconscious man he found on the side of the road, using CPR. But nobody was that surprised: This marked the third time in 20 years that McVey has been credited with saving a life. Two years ago, he rescued a drowning 13-year-old girl and about 20 years ago, he saved a teenager who had jumped off a bridge, wrapping him in blankets until an ambulance arrived. “I’m not sure, but after three times,” said McVey, “I’m beginning to think there might be a little divine intervention of some sort.”
