Best websites for the aspiring handyman
Sites for woodworkers and home repairmen
Homerepairforum.com compiles helpful hints from “legions of pathologically helpful handymen.” The site’s team answers even the most minor questions, such as why the icemaker will not shut off or “why the gutters on your house may be electrified.”
Finewoodworking.com is the site for the magazine of the same name. It offers quick tips, a tool guide featuring reviews by both editors and users, and how-to videos ranging from “Squaring up rough lumber” to “An easy way to check table-saw alignment.”
Woodworkingchannel.com picks up where Finewoodworking.com leaves off, taking users “beyond rectilinear carpentry and into the workshops of the pros.” Membership is free and allows participants to showcase their works, talk shop in forums, and learn from videos of such skilled woodworkers as Sam Maloof.
