Show of the week: Men of a Certain Age
Co-created by comedian Ray Romano, Men of a Certain Age dramatizes the faded dreams of three best friends in this wistful look at middle-aged malehood.
Though co-created by comedian Ray Romano, this new series is a far cry from Everybody Loves Raymond. Romano plays a washed-up golfer distraught to find himself with a broken marriage and a gambling problem. His two best friends have similarly faded dreams. Andre Braugher poignantly portrays a car salesman rankling under the thumb of his domineering father, while Scott Bakula is an aging Peter Pan who never quite made it as an actor. All three succeed in making their flawed characters sympathetic in this wistful look at middle-aged malehood. Monday, Dec. 7, at 10 p.m., TNT
