Best online health sites
These sites provide information, symptoms checklists, quizzes, and guidance from physicians.
Mayoclinic.com is the home page of the not-for-profit medical center. Rather than type your symptoms into some search engine and “jump to the wrong conclusions,” use its symptoms checklist to find the cause of your pain and potential treatments. The Health Manager, meanwhile, provides personalized health guidance from reputable physicians.
Womenshealth.gov, a federal government source for women, provides information on everything from mammograms to eating disorders. The site’s tools range from quizzes and print-and-go guides to a Body Mass Index calculator.
Uptodate.com, essentially an online clinical community, hosts more than 4,000 expert clinicians who interact with users and discuss patient care and concerns. Once you subscribe, you can log in to receive updates on clinical findings and treatment recommendations.
