Cuckolded by Madoff
How is Ron Weinstein, the husband of Sheryl Weinstein, coping with his wife's tell-all book about her affair with Bernie Madoff?
Ron Weinstein is living with public humiliation, says Tracy Quan in TheDailybeast.com. He’s the husband of Sheryl Weinstein, the former CFO of the Jewish women’s volunteer organization Hadassah, who is now hawking her tell-all memoir about her fling with convicted swindler Bernie Madoff. “I haven’t come to terms with it myself,” says Weinstein, a Manhattan salesman. “To see your wife talking about her affair on television and knowing people are watching is not easy.” And yet Weinstein can’t hate her completely. “I dislike the choice she made, but I try to understand it. He was powerful and he was attentive, and an illicit love is a hot love.’’ In fact, he defends Sheryl from those who call her a faithless opportunist. “Don’t be so quick to judge my wife. Affairs are commonplace and shouldn’t be such a big deal.” For the time being, Weinstein is committed to his 37-year marriage. “I’m not going to let her hang out there. I’ll wait a few months, let my emotions calm down, and then I’ll see if I can forgive.” In the meantime, the book has its upside. “Half the profits are mine.”
