Google plays Monopoly, Cadbury plays hard to get

Good day for a Google Monopoly; Bad day for a candyland pick-up

GOOD DAY FOR: A Google Monopoly, after Hasbro and Google kicked off the world’s biggest game of Monopoly yesterday, Monopoly City Streets, in which the whole planet is up for “sale,” using Google Maps as the game board. The giant online game was proposed by Hasbro’s ad agency as a way to publicize a new version of Monopoly coming out this fall; Google, for its part, is trying to monetize its massive collection of maps. BAD DAY FOR: A candyland pick-up, as food giant Kraft is reportedly putting together $8 billion in financing to bolster its rejected $16.7 bid for British candy maker Cadbury. Kraft is expected to sweet its offer, although that would put its credit rating on watch for downgrade. (Bloomberg)
