Bank fires teller for preventing a robbery
A Seattle bank fired a teller for foiling an attempted robbery. Jim Nicholson, 30, was at his post at Key Bank when a man demanded he fill a backpack with cash. Nicholson lunged at the man, chased him down the street, and tackled him, holding him until police arrived. The bank then fired him, saying employees are required to cooperate with robbers. “They tell us that we’re just supposed to comply, but my instincts kicked in,” Nicholson said. “I’m an adrenaline-junkie person.”

A small New York state town has banned the daily card games at a senior citizens center after learning that the players were betting dimes and quarters. Baldwinsville Mayor Joe Saraceni said he cracked down because “gambling isn’t a permissible activity” at the Canton Woods Senior Center, regardless of the amount of the bet. “I don’t understand why this is an issue,” said cardplayer James Clark. “It’s ridiculous.”
