The advocacy group Little People of America has called on the Federal Communications Commission to ban the word “midget” from broadcast media. The demand came after an episode of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice in which contestants used the word several times. “It’s not acceptable to call people the N-word,” said chapter president Michael Petruzzelli, “just as it’s not acceptable to call people the M-word. The chosen term now is L.P., or ‘little person.’”

Wisconsin’s Government Accountability Board, tasked with running fair, orderly elections, has drawn up a new logo that strongly resembles the symbol of the international anarchist movement. The board paid a designer $4,900 for the logo—a capital A inside a circle—unaware of the symbol’s history as an icon of lawlessness. “Irony is an overused word,’’ said Warwick Say, owner of the anarchist-themed Circle-A Café in Milwaukee, “but that’s somewhat ironic.”
