St. Petersburg, Fla., long known as a retirement capital and “a cheaper spring-break alternative,” is suddenly hip, said Paul Reyes in The New York Times. Artists and denizens of cafes, “lulled by the breeze that made St. Pete so popular to begin with,” have replaced the retirees. Historic hotels have been renovated, new condos have gone up, and a thriving restaurant scene lures locals and visitors alike. Some of the best places to hang out:
