Can T-Mobile's Google phone tackle the iPhone?

Google has unveiled its answer to Apple’s iPhone, said Andrew LaVallee in The Wall Street Journal online. The G1, offered by T-Mobile and operating on Google’s Android mobile-phone software, is slick. But don’t expect it to be an “iPhone killer.”

The real battle isn’t Android versus the iPhone, said TechCrunch's Erick Schonfeld in The Washington Post online. “It’s about Web phones versus the brick in your pocket.” And with another buzz-generating phone offering Web browsing and email, among other features, the mobile-phone market just took another step into the future.
