Hotel of the week: The Hermitage, Nashville
This 100-year-old hotel
The Hermitage
Nashville
This 100-year-old hotel “is a study in historical grandeur,” said Katie Kelly Bell in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the Hermitage has recently undergone an extensive renovation. Yet many original features remain, including museum-quality Oriental rugs, the clubby Oak Bar, and a ballroom paneled in rare Russian walnut. A dramatic staircase leads up to the lobby under a vaulted stained-glass ceiling. The Capitol Grille Dining room specializes in classic Southern food, including a “crazy good” grilled pimento sandwich on brioche with fried green tomatoes.
