A fuel leak probably caused the explosion that destroyed a Taiwanese passenger jet this week. The China Airlines plane, a Boeing 737, caught fire as soon as it landed in Okinawa. It blew up just seconds after the captain, the last person to evacuate, jumped out the cockpit window. All 157 passengers and eight crew members were unharmed. China Airlines CEO Zhao Kuo-shuai flew to the accident scene and personally handed each passenger $100. “I apologize from the bottom of my heart,” Zhao said. “I feel ashamed for causing so much trouble.” Passengers will be compensated later for their incinerated luggage.
