Nudists are too old
The week's news at a glance.
Kissimmee, Florida
The American Association for Nude Recreation has begun a campaign to attract younger people to the nudist lifestyle. The organization, which claims 50,000 members, estimates that more than 90 percent of them are over 35; at one typical nudist camp, the median age is 55. The association recently launched two programs, Youth Ambassadors and Nude U, to entice 18– to 25–year–olds to “join the nude revolution.” Laura Groezinger, 22, said two misconceptions turn her generation off to what adherents call “naturism.” Some “people think we’re all hippies,”she said. “Other people, I don’t know the right way to say this, but they think it’s more sexual, kind of. They don’t understand just being free with your body and being comfortable.”
