Mocking Mohammed again

The week's news at a glance.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Muslim leaders are calling for sanctions against Denmark after a far-right Danish political party put up an anti-Islamic video on a popular video-sharing Web site. The video shows Danish youths at the party’s summer camp drawing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed and dressing up as Mohammed in a suicide belt. It was quickly removed from YouTube.com, but not before being widely publicized. In response, Danish authorities said, Islamic groups have threatened violence against Danes traveling to the Middle East. Earlier this year, a Danish newspaper sparked a worldwide furor when it published cartoons mocking Mohammed. Some 50 people were killed in organized demonstrations in Muslim countries. Islam forbids any depiction of Mohammed.
