Muslim girl kicked out

The Dutch government said this week that a Kosovar Albanian girl who grew up in the Netherlands will be deported. The Netherlands has been gripped for months by the case of Taida Pasic, 18, whose family fled Kosovo in 1999. Pasic was four months away from graduating from high school last year when immigration officials burst into her classroom, handcuffed her, and hauled her to a detention facility, saying her family had been denied political asylum. She sneaked back into the country last January to finish her studies, but was caught and detained again. The case has caused a split in the government. The Education Ministry claimed Pasic had a moral right to stay, but the Immigration Ministry, which insisted that she had no legal right, won the day.
