Fatal shootout
The week's news at a glance.
Norfork, Ark.
A teenager accused of a rampage at a gay bar and two subsequent killings fatally shot himself in the head in a gunfight with police in Arkansas, authorities said. Jacob Robida, an 18-year-old high school dropout who had dabbled in Nazism, fled his hometown of New Bedford, Mass., after allegedly slashing one man with a hatchet and shooting two others in Puzzles Lounge. Robida picked up a 33-year-old woman in West Virginia and drove to Arkansas, where authorities said he shot and killed a policeman during a traffic stop. He then sped into the town of Norfork and crashed. Police said Robida shot and killed his companion, before opening fire on police and then turning the gun on himself.
