Two Catholic extremists broke up a performance of a satirical one-man play in Spain this week, beating up the actor and the playwright and destroying the set. The play, I Crap on God, takes place in a bathroom, where a constipated man talks of the abuse he suffered in Catholic school. “They tried to set fire to the set, which is made of toilet paper,” said the playwright, Inigo Ramirez de Haro. “The audience thought it was part of the play, so no one helped us for ages.” The attackers were arrested, and the victims were treated for sprains and bruises. The archbishop of Madrid has called for the play to be banned.
