Unforgettable cruises

A stubborn virus plaguing Florida cruise ships struck a third vessel this week, sending 190 passengers to their cabins with diarrhea, stomach pain, and vomiting. The Norwalk gastrointestinal virus, or something like it, has been infecting passengers since early November. The Holland America and Disney cruise lines had to cancel one voyage each to disinfect their ships. Capt. Dirk van Den Berg said his crew, on Holland America’s Amsterdam, spent “10 days cleaning and sanitizing to make sure we can sail virus-free.” Many passengers brought Lysol and Pepto Bismol when the ship returned to sea, just in case. “Let’s just say,” said passenger Mike Landry, “I won’t be kissing the crew.”
