New air routes to China

The Transportation Department approved two new nonstop air routes between the U.S. and China, handing big wins to United Airlines and Delta Air Lines. United was green-lighted for a San Francisco-Guangzhou route and Delta for an Atlanta-Shanghai route. The department also recommended letting four other carriers -- American, Continental, Northwest, and US Airways -- start routes in 2009. (Chicago Tribune)
