Head coach Phil Neville says England “fear no one”, The Guardian reports, after their winning World Cup start. But The Daily Telegraph says that Neville has also demanded improvement and that his side “must do better”.
Neville said: “We set standards and the players have to keep meeting them. We cannot drop below those standards. We have to keep being ruthless.
“It taught us that every game is going to be hard but I was pleased with the result.”
Pickford the hero
England’s men’s team were also in action on Sunday in the Uefa Nations League third/fourth-placed match against Switzerland.
The match finished 0-0 after extra-time so it went to penalties. England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was the star of the shoot-out. The Everton No.1 scored from 12 yards before saving from Josip Drmic to seal the bronze medal.
