9/11 ANNIVERSARY: 'CREDIBLE THREAT' ALERTThe US media last night broadcast a "specific, credible threat" warning from the Department of Homeland Security of an impending terrorist attack. Anniversary bomb alert – is al-Qaeda really up to it? INTERPOL ISSUES GADDAFI ARREST WARRANTInterpol has issued arrest warrants for deposed Libyan leader Col Gaddafi (above), his son Saif al-Islam and spy chief Abdullah al-Sanussi. They are accused of war crimes. Meanwhile, one of Gaddafi's most senior generals, Ali Kana, is said to have fled to Niger as the NTC's Saturday ultimatum for loyalist troops to surrender approaches. THOUSANDS TURN OUT FOR DUGGAN FUNERALThousands of people turned out in north London for the funeral of Mark Duggan, the man whose death in a police shooting sparked riots across England last month. The body of the 29-year-old father of four was carried through Tottenham by horse-drawn carriage. Tottenham MP David Lammy had earlier criticised the police for leaving Duggan's family "floundering" after his death. SATELLITE SET TO FALL FROM SPACESpace agency Nasa has warned that a 20-year-old satellite, sent in to orbit to study climate change, is about to fall to earth and could rain debris over densley populated parts of the planet. Half a tonne of metal is likely to survive re-entry and could fall on any of the six continents. The footprint of the debris will be about 500 miles long. 'STOP POLITICAL CIRCUS' OBAMA TELLS CONGRESS President Obama told Congress last night to "stop the political circus" and pass a proposed American Jobs Act "right away". His $447 billion package included spending on infrastructure, transport and schools, and cuts in payroll tax - all designed to create new jobs. Republicans immediately dubbed it the Obama Re-Election Bill. Alexander Cockburn: Obama’s speech fails to dispel the gloom 'I FACE EXTINCTION' SAYS PRINCE CHARLES In his first speech as president of the Worldwide Wildlife Fund UK, Prince Charles has warned that he is an "endangered species" and that so is the rest of mankind.
