MILLY DOWLER'S FAMILY TO SUE NEWS OF THE WORLDThe family of Milly Dowler are to sue the News of the World over claims the paper may have hacked into her voicemail after she went missing. The then editor of the paper Rebekah Brooks has denied any knowledge of the allegations, but even prime minister David Cameron has expressed his concern and MPs will hold an emergency debate on phone hacking on Wednesday. It is not known why the soldier left his base but the Taliban has admitted killing him. PAPERS face jo yeates CONTEMPT chargeThe High Court has heard that two newspapers printed articles that were in contempt of court during the investigation into the murder of Jo Yeates. The stories about Yeates's landlord Christopher Jefferies, who was arrested and then released, apeared in the Sun and Daily Mirror. Attorney General Dominic Grieve called for a prison sentence or another "appropriate penalty". DSK TO COUNTER-SUE WRITER BANON Former IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn has announced a counter-suit for defamation hours after French writer Tristane Banon said she would file a lawsuit for attempted rape against him for an incident in 2002. Rape charges made against him by a hotel maid in America are expected to be dropped after her credibility collapsed. Strauss-Kahn rape case 'will be dropped' BOMBARDIER TO CUT 1,400 JOBS IN DERBYTrain and plane manufacturer Bombardier is to cut 1,400 jobs at its factory in Derby after failing to win the £3bn Thameslink contract to build 1,200 carriages for the new Brighton to Bedford line. German group Siemens was awarded the government contract, sparking criticism from the opposition and unions. Bombardier sack 1,400, but is government to blame? CHAVEZ RETURNS TO VENEZUELA, SINGINGVenezuelan president Hugo Chavez made a surprise return to Caracas yesterday, breaking into song as he greeted his vice-president, after undergoing cancer treatment in Cuba. After a triumphant appearance before crowds on a balcony (above), however, his aides were forced to admit he was too ill to take part in bicentenary celebrations. WILLS BEATS KATE IN DRAGON BOAT RACEPrince William celebrated yesterday after beating his wife in a men versus women dragon boat race as the Duke and Duchess continue their Canadian tour. William also practised landing a helicopter on the surface of a lake before the couple visited Prince Edward Island, the setting of Anne of Green Gables, a childhood favourite of Kate's. Doherty was filming a costume drama in Regensburg when he admits smashing a window to a music shop and taking a guitar. THAILAND: SHINAWATRA ANNOUNCES COALITIONThe new Thai prime minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, whose brother Thaksin is an exiled former leader of the country who described her as his "clone", is to go into coalition with four minor parties to give her a majority of 299 seats in the country's 500-seat parliament. The deal will buy her time while her opponents regroup. Thaksin’s puppet sister takes power in Thailand ASHLEY COLE BUYS WEDDING RING FOR CHERYLFootballer Ashley Cole, whose marriage to Geordie chanteuse Cheryl ended when he admitted to a string of affairs, has been shopping for a new wedding ring for her after they enjoyed a rapprochement, kissing and cuddling together at a party. The news will hit the 58 per cent of Sun readers who feel Cheryl should stay away from Ashley hard.
