1. ETONIANS 'PUSHED OUT BLACK ADVISER'
Shaun Bailey, David Cameron's only black working class adviser, claims he was pushed out of Downing Street by the prime minister’s “clique” of Old Etonian aides, reports the Daily Telegraph. Bailey says he was excluded from the inner circle because he was “different” and asked difficult questions about government priorites.
2. DEADLY BLAST AS PAKISTAN VOTES
A blast at a political party office in Karachi has left at least five people dead and several others wounded as Pakistan goes to the polls in a landmark election. The vote marks Pakistan's first transition from one civilian government to another in its 66-year history. The run-up to the election has been marred by violence in which more than 100 people have been killed.
3. WIGAN WIN FA CUP FINAL
Wigan Athletic beat Manchester City 1-0 in a shock result in the FA Cup Final at a rain-soaked Wembley. Ben Watson scored with a dramatic 91st-minute header to cap a fine performance from the underdogs. Man of the match Callum McManaman went close for Wigan in the first half. Wigan now have two league games to avoid becoming the first team to win the FA Cup and be relegated in the same season.

4. TEN TORIES IN UKIP DEFECTION TALKS
UKIP has held “serious discussions” with ten Tory MPs about the possibility of defecting, the party claimed yesterday. Stuart Wheeler, the former Tory donor who serves as UKIP’s treasurer, says he has lunched with nine Tory MPs and that a tenth has since been in touch. Wheeler says there is a “better than 50%” chance of securing a defection before the next general election.
5. MET COPS 'ENABLED CRIMINAL NETWORK'
Three Metropolitan Police officers have accused colleagues of leaking evidence to alleged criminals and tampering with evidence enabling a criminal network to operate in London for decades, a court has been told. The allegations emerged during a libel trial in which businessman David Hunt is seeking damages from the Sunday Times over its accusation he is head of the network.
6. STAR WARS FILM WILL BE SHOT IN UK
The new Star Wars film is to be filmed in the UK in a move hailed by chancellor George Osborne as a coup for British tax breaks. The film is due to start production next year and is scheduled for release in 2015. Osborne said the development is “great news for fans and our creative industries, and it is clear evidence that our incentives are attracting the largest studios back to the UK".
7. HOARDING COUPLE GUILTY OF CRUELTY
A couple who filled their home with so much junk from car boot sales that their children had to eat meals on the stairs pleaded guilty to four charges of child cruelty yesterday. The couple, from Bedfordshire, were given suspended sentences in what is thought to be the first prosecution for hoarding. Judge Bevan told the couple they were “fortunate” he was not jailing them.
8. TONY MARTIN 'CONFRONTS BURGLAR'
Tony Martin, the farmer jailed for killing a burglar in 1999, has confronted another burglar on his property but says he did not try to stop the latest thief as he “couldn't face going through all that again”. Martin says he found the burglar near an outbuilding at his property near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire on Thursday.
9. JIM DAVIDSON FALKLANDS SEX PROBE
Comedian Jim Davidson is being investigated by Scotland Yard over claims he indecently assaulted a woman in the Falkland Islands during the 1980s. Officers on Operation Yewtree are probing claims the former Generation Game host committed a sex offence while he visited the island to entertain British troops after the Falklands war.
10. BRADLEY WIGGINS CRASHES IN RAINY STAGE
Bradley Wiggins's hopes of winning the Giro d'Italia were dented when he crashed on the seventh stage. The Team Sky rider slipped while descending at the end of the stage amid heavy rain. As a result he dropped from sixth to 23rd place overall. Referring to rumours that journalists cheered when Wiggins crashed, Lance Armstrong tweeted: “If true, that is completely f'd.”
