1. NEW CLIFFORD ‘VICTIMS’ COME FORWARD

Detectives are reviewing new allegations against Max Clifford, says Scotland Yard. The disgraced PR man was jailed yesterday for eight years for a series of offences against girls and young women. Following the sentencing police say more potential victims have come forward. "We have received further information and this is currently subject to review," a spokesman said.

2. WERE GIRLS PLOTTING TO KILL TEACHER?

Two schoolgirls have been arrested on suspicion of plotting to murder their maths teacher. The arrests occurred amid fears of copycat attacks after the killing of Ann Maguire, who was fatally stabbed at a Catholic secondary school in Leeds. A 15-year-old male pupil has been charged with murder. The teenage girls, aged 14 and 15, were found with a knife at a comprehensive school.

3. UKRAINE MINISTER: 'WE ARE NOT STOPPING'

Ukraine’s government is resuming military action against pro-Russian separatists following a day of bloodshed in Odessa. Dozens died yesterday in a fire at a building taken over by pro-Russians in the city, prompting the US to condemn the “senseless” violence. The country’s interior minister, Arsen Avakov, announced the resumption, adding: “We are not stopping”.

4. HAS ‘TROJAN HORSE’ SPREAD ACROSS UK?

Schools across Britain may have been targeted in the alleged Islamist plot to take over classrooms, warns a teachers’ group. The National Association of Head Teachers said it had found “concerted efforts” to infiltrate at least six schools in Birmingham and claimed that the so-called ‘Trojan Horse’ scandal has “connections” to other large cities.

5. CLARKSON: I’VE HAD MY FINAL WARNING

The BBC has given Jeremy Clarkson a final warning, he writes in his Sun column. The Top Gear presenter, who was accused of racism this week, writes: "I've been told by the BBC that if I make one more offensive remark, anywhere, at any time, I will be sacked.” He adds: “It's inevitable that one day, someone, somewhere will say that I've offended them, and that will be that."

6. RECOVERING CANCER TEEN SENT HOME

A cancer victim who has raised more than £3.1m for charity has been sent home from hospital after a dramatic improvement in his condition. Teenager Stephen Sutton wrote on his Facebook page that he had been allowed to leave hospital after a "remarkable recovery". He added: "I then also have some more great news... I've been discharged from hospital!"

7. OAP BANNED FROM TALKING TO PRESS

A 94 year-old woman has been banned from talking to the media in what is believed to be an unprecedented ruling. The ruling was issued after her local council tried to force her from her home. The judge ruled that she lacks the “mental capacity” to speak to the press. The woman said of the council: “They think I am a stupid old woman and can do what they like and I want them out of my life."

8. TEACHERS WARN OF ‘HARMFUL’ TELEVISION

Children are still seeing “harmful material” on television despite tough rules on what can be shown before the 9pm watershed, says the National Association of Head Teachers. A survey of 1,013 parents found 96% believed the rules were being broken. However, regulator Ofcom says “the vast majority of adults believe the current level of TV regulation is about right."

9. TYSON GAY BANNED FOR ONE YEAR

Former 100m and 200m world champion Tyson Gay has been handed a one-year ban after testing positive for a banned anabolic steroid. The 31-year-old American has also returned the silver medal he won at the London Olympics two years ago. He said: "I hope I am able to run again, but I will take whatever punishment I get like a man."

10. CAN MAN CITY RETURN TO THE TOP?

Everton can do their Merseyside rivals Liverpool a huge favour today by beating Manchester City in the tea-time kick-off. City hope to beat the Toffees and replace Liverpool at the top of the table as the three-way title race nears its conclusion. As for Everton, they need a win to maintain pressure on Arsenal in the race for fourth place.
