1. LIB DEMS AND UKIP LAUNCH MANIFESTOS

The Lib Dems and Ukip have launched their election manifestos, with Ukip pledging a points-based immigration system, 6,000 new jobs for ex-forces people and to cut foreign aid by £9bn. Nick Clegg has committed to real-terms increases in schools funding and vowed to take care of an £8bn a year NHS funding shortfall.

2. FOUR ARRESTED FOR TERRORISM AT AIRPORT

Four people from Rochdale have been arrested at Manchester airport as they returned from Turkey, the arrests are part of an investigation into nine family members who were stopped from crossing the Syrian border earlier this month. The first of the group to fly home, councillor’s son Waheed Ahmed, was arrested at Birmingham Airport yesterday.

3. LIBYA CAPSIZING: 400 MIGRANTS FEARED DEAD

It is feared as many as 400 have drowned in the latest sinking of a boat illegally taking would-be migrants from Africa to Europe. The Italian coastguard rescued 144 people after the vessel capsized off the coast of Libya, and has recovered nine bodies so far. It’s thought 3,072 migrants died in the Mediterranean in 2014

4. DRAGHI ATTACKED BY ECB PROTESTER

A European Central Bank press conference was interrupted when a lone female protester leapt onto the desk in front of Mario Draghi, shouting "end ECB dictatorship" and showering him and other officials with paper. ECB president Draghi was speaking after the bank's latest policy meeting. Many blame the ECB austerity programme for problems in eurozone countries, including Greece.

5. CUBA WELCOMES US TERROR LIST DECISION

Cuba has praised as “fair” the decision announced yesterday by Barack Obama to remove it from the US’s list of states believed to sponsor terrorism. Obama met Cuban president Raul Castro at the Summit of the Americas in Panama last week - the first such high-level encounter between the two nations since 1959.

6. US TO EXHUME PEARL HARBOUR DEAD

The US authorities are to exhume the remains of almost 400 servicemen who died when the Japanese launched an unexpected bomb attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii in 1941. The remains of many victims were not identified at the time and they were buried in graves marked 'unknown'. The plan now is to use DNA evidence so they can be given individual burials.

7. THREE GUILTY OF 'HONEY TRAP' KILLING

Three people have been convicted over the 'honey trap' death of professional gambler Mehmet Hassan, who was kicked to death for his winnings. Care assistant Leone Granger, 25, targeted the 56-year-old after meeting him in a Mayfair casino. She let her boyfriend, Kyrron Jackson, and his accomplice Nicholas Chandler into Hassan's flat where they murdered him. Granger was convicted of manslaughter.

8. GLASTONBURY LINE-UP FOR 2015 REVEALED

The full line-up for this year’s Glastonbury festival has been made public - and acts will include Pharrell Williams, Mary J Blige and Motorhead. Organisers had already revealed two of the three headliners - Kanye West and Foo Fighters. Also appearing are Lionel Richie, Patti Smith, Paloma Faith and Mark Ronson.

9. TOP GEAR: PERKINS GETS DEATH THREATS

Sue Perkins, host of the Great British Bake Off, has quit Twitter after being subjected to death threats over reports that she could replace Jeremy Clarkson as presenter of Top Gear. She was installed as the bookies favourite prompting abuse on the social networking site. Announcing her decision, she said stories about her joining the show were "utterly fabricated".

10. BRIEFING: U.S POLICE SHOOTINGS

A series of police shootings has drawn attention to the racial imbalance among people killed by police in the US - and the sheer number of deaths. While in Britain and Japan, no one was killed by police officers in 2013, official US figures suggest that 458 people were killed by American police. Even that figure is likely to be an underestimate.
